Step by Step: Training Pretty to Embrace the Communication Button

We're back with another fascinating chapter in Pretty's verbal adventure. This time, we're taking you behind the scenes of our innovative conditioning training where we're teaching Pretty to develop an interest in the communication button itself, a crucial stage in her journey to becoming a talking dog.

A New Environment: The Kitchen Classroom

Our training ground is none other than our kitchen, a place where Pretty has always loved engaging her brain. This is her little classroom, where she usually loves playing with her intelligence toys, cracking puzzles, and finding treats hidden in the most unexpected places. Today, we've added a new element to her learning environment: an empty button marked with a post-it note.

Starting Simple: The Power of a Post-It Note

At first, the introduction of a new object sparked a sense of caution in Pretty. She was hesitant, even slightly afraid, to approach the post-it note. But we knew we had to start with baby steps. To break the ice, we decided to employ Pretty's favorite motivator - treats!

We started by rewarding her with a few treats to pique her interest and prepare her for interaction. Then, as captured in our recent video, we used a treat to guide her curiosity towards the post-it, encouraging her to approach and engage with this new entity in her space.

Gentle Progress: Patience and Efficiency

We are keenly aware that training sessions with Pretty need to be both patient and efficient. Our weekends are devoted to these sessions, but with Pretty's attention span clocking in at less than five minutes, every moment counts. This means creating an environment where Pretty can quickly and comfortably acclimate to the new training tool, without her excitement veering her off course.

To make the button more approachable and less intimidating, we recorded a neutral greeting, "Hello", onto it. This is a word Pretty has heard in our conversations, but it doesn't hold any specific meaning for her, making it the perfect choice to help her get acquainted with the button without any preconceived notions.

Building Bridges: From Curiosity to Interaction

Through gradual interaction, we aim to foster a connection between Pretty and the communication button. This isn't just about teaching her to press a button; it's about helping her understand that this button can be a new and exciting way for her to express herself, a golden tool to enrich our communication with her.

And thus, step by step, with treats as motivators and the kitchen as our classroom, we are nurturing Pretty's curiosity and helping her build a relationship with the button system. Each session is a testament to her intelligence and her willingness to explore new avenues.

Looking Ahead: A Talking Dog in the Making

As we continue this exhilarating journey, we remain hopeful and excited for the day Pretty willingly interacts with the button, a monumental milestone in her path to becoming a talking dog.
